He knew what was coming
What was waiting up ahead
A German Shepherd lies waiting
And it filled him with dread
He had to get past it
He knew there’d be a chase
Peddling as fast as he could
He began a frantic race
He had almost pulled it off
He began to shout with glee
When out of his eye’s corner
The dog lunged at his knee
Luckily it just missed him
He was able to get away
His joy, it was temporary
He had to do it every day
To town every day he went
This was the shortest route
The canine gauntlet that he ran
Was worth it, there’s no doubt
