A Candle Shines In The Darkness

A candle shines in the darkness
Your eye to it immediately goes
A beacon that beckons you closer
What it is you want to know

It could sit proudly on your mantle
Or maybe reside on a Xmas tree
A light with so many secrets
Waiting to share with you and me

It could overlook a pulpit
Illuminating God’s Holy Word
Or solemnly sit over a casket
While a eulogy is sadly heard

Or maybe it’s a different form
One not made of molded wax
The light of the world He’s called
Dealing with souls, He’s never lax

As a light, He shines so brightly
Putting all candles to shame
He’s the light of eternal glory
And our Lord Jesus is His name
