Out Of Its Hole

Out of its hole, it came
Looking for someone to bite
Focusing on me, it charged
On that dark, sultry night

Terrified, I took off
I was running for my life
The last thing I needed
Was another dose of strife

Running as fast as I could
It was right on my heels
Felt its breath on my ankles
Its growl made me squeal

To my car, I raced
I made it just in time
Got in, slammed the door
Avoided a hideous crime

Whatever was chasing me
It wanted me pretty bad
In my car, I sat safely
Relieved, it made me glad

Not many survive an attack
From what was chasing me
I found out much later
It was my neighbor’s kitty!
