Keeping A Promise

There’s nothing like a promise

To change a person’s life

It can be either insignificant

Or monumental with strife

A promise is to be kept

Above all else it matters

For when a promise is kept

The end result, it flatters

A promise is a sacred thing

Not to be taken lightly

Above all else must be fulfilled

And try to do it rightly

For if you ever break one

It’s something hard to mend

Because trust has been broken

Your honesty, hard to defend

Because a promise is a promise

Something you’re expected to do

If you fail you’ll never forget

It will come back to torment you
