The Little Boy

Through the gate, he skipped
A little boy at the age of seven
Amazed at what he saw
In this fabulous place called Heaven

Grandma and grandpa were waiting there
Along with his aunt Sue
Relatives he had never met
Introduced themselves, identity, no clue

He wondered why he was here
But he was happy that he was
The moments prior to coming
Were confusing, as it usually does

One moment he was playing
And the next he was here
It happened so incredibly quick
He had had no time for fear

Across the street, it had run
And for his throat, it went
A bad dog was on the loose
Its intentions were hell bent

Now he was in heaven
Where he would spend eternity
A seven-year-old little boy
Sitting quietly on Jesus’s knee
