Christmas Time In America

It’s Christmas time in America
And I’m shopping, wearing a mask
Social distancing, almost impossible
As I go about this Yuletide task

But it’s Christmas time in America
Time to celebrate the Virgin Birth
It’s a time for family and friends
To share His love, joy, and mirth

This year Christmas is different
We’re told that we must stay home
A pandemic is running rampant
Wreaking havoc wherever it roams

It’s a Christmas like no other
People are afraid to venture out
The fear of catching the virus
Is something hard to surmount

It’s Christmas time in America
The death toll continues to rise
The government says beware
Don’t be stupid, please be wise

It’s Christmas time in America
Over our heads shutdown looms
To dampen our Christmas spirit
Replace it with despair and gloom

It’s Christmas time in America
One I hope we’ll soon forget
We have to place it in God’s hands
And forever be in His debt

It’s Christmas time in America
Let’s forever give Him our praise
Instead of looking at the negative
While gazing at loved one’s graves

It’s Christmas time in America
Overcome this, I know we will
If we trust him no matter what
He’ll deliver us, He loves us still
